Fearing that the actions of Superman are left unchecked, Batman takes on the Man of Steel, while the world wrestles with what kind of a hero it really needs. A movie directed by Zack Snyder, Tony was involved in the creation of matte paintings for the sequences when Batman fights vs Superman, Doomsdays appearence and the death of superman.

Research is here key help tell the story

To help the story telling of this feature film. I was responsible for creating the moody view from the Brooklyn Bridge into the New York Skyline. besides creating the extention of the bridge entirly in 3D using Houdini and Maya. Was I also responsible for the research of the bridge doing that time as well as the concept design of it. The concepts were pitched to the director and vfx supervisor. Once it was approved I went go on to create it in 3D. I also created a slap-comp in Nuke which later got shared with the compositing department to finalize the shots.

Batman Vs Superman

When only Batman was real

Based on 3D geometry and a simple lighting layer, Tony painted the on top of the 3D to add all the details in the shot using photoshop only. Later on did he used Nuke to create a slap comp for the compositing department adding the animations and matches the plate colors with the matte painting. Comp later on had only added the final 3D wood in the foreground as well as the did the final touchups.

Death of Superman

Doomsday and Superman

While working on Batman V Superman, Tony had the pleasure to work on some special shots. As special as they were, they also were kind of simple because Tony only had to create 2D Digital matte paintings of the ground where Superman and Doomsday lie. He also provided a little slapcomp for the comp department that matches camera movement and 3D space.
